S'ghetti Dinners

Sean’s favorite dining event has always been “sghetti” dinner.

new Bistro jersey...fearless future soccer star

Every year for the past twenty–five years the Beach Bistro has been donating the annual opening banquets for of all the sports played by the island kids at the Anna Maria Island Community Center

The proceeds buy the jerseys and some of the equipment for the upcoming season. That’s every jersey for soccer, basketball and baseball and the newly popular flag football for twenty-five years - about twenty-five thousand jerseys.

The S’ghetti sports banquets are also a chance for the families of Anna Maria Island to come together and celebrate their children and their community.

The menu has enjoyed an efficient consistency throughout its history.

Spaghetti is pretty much the only thing that every kid will eat - and it is one of the few things that can be served to three or four hundred people in under thirty minutes.

Every time the dinner is served one of the junior guests mentions that “spaghetti” is spelled wrong. Sean likes “sghetti” better and so “sghetti” it is.

The “sghetti” is crowned with aged parmesan and the menu is rounded out with garlic bread and Caesar salad. It is a very happy time. All the kids are getting get their new jerseys, and the littlest are getting their first jersey ever. There is a lot of giggling and running around and there are a lot of big, toothless smiles.

The next day at school every little person is proudly sporting their new jersey.

Sometimes there are spaghetti stains.
